Vehicle Description

REMUS has four main sections: the nose cone, RDI Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler module, mid-body, and tail. In addition, there are two possible nose cone configurations: standard and bioluminescence. Click anywhere on the diagram below for more specific information on that section. The mid-body is an air-tight chamber that houses the majority of the operational components of the vehicle, including the control computer. This computer, based on PC-104 technology, incorporates a 166MHz Pentium Processor. The compass, heading sensors, yaw rate sensor, and the four 1kW-hour lithium ion batteries are located in this section as well.
