Marine Operations

The Cal Poly Pier has been operated by the university since 2001 and is located in Avila Beach, CA.

Coordinated through Cal Poly's Center for Coastal Marine Sciences, Marine Operations provides students, faculty and staff with the tools needed to complete their research and education goals. Marine Operations maintains the Cal Poly pier, flowing seawater system, and oversees the Scientific Boating and Scientific Diving Programs.
