Members of the CCMS, the Marine Sciences (MSCI) B.S. degree program and the Center for Engineering, Math and Science Education (CESAME) execute a dynamic outreach program aimed at inspiring early learners from Lindsay High School to pursue careers in marine sciences, apply for admission at Cal Poly, and seek higher education after high school. As the program grows and matures, additional high schools in the foundation’s priority areas will be included in the outreach efforts. The main goal of this program is to have Central Valley and Central Coast students learn from diverse mentors who they can relate to and to understand what it is like to be on a college campus, out in our local marine environments and to have participated in some activities that immerse them in the Learn-by-Doing philosophy over many years of interactions with mentors at Cal Poly.
